Climbing into the Mist: New Crow’s Nest Stairway Coming to Niagara Falls!

Big news for waterfall adventurers and mist-lovers alike — a brand-new staircase is being built alongside the American Falls, and it’s going to change the way visitors experience one of Niagara’s most iconic spots: The Crow’s Nest.

For years, the Crow’s Nest has been a hidden gem — a winding metal staircase tucked into the cliffside, just off the base of the American Falls. It brings you right into the heart of the mist, with some of the most exhilarating up-close views in the entire park. But long lines and bottlenecks at the bottom, especially during peak season, have made it harder for everyone to enjoy.

That’s about to change.

🛠️ A New Way Up — and a Better Experience for All

The new staircase — currently under construction — will connect the base of the American Falls directly up to Prospect Point, giving guests a smoother, more scenic climb up the side of the Falls. It’s not just functional — it’s a beautiful vertical journey that will bring you closer to the thunder, the spray, and the raw energy of the Falls themselves.

By creating a more efficient flow of visitors, this upgrade is expected to alleviate crowding at the base, cut wait times, and give guests the choice to walk up instead of heading back through the usual exits.

Oh, and it’s a bit of a workout, too. Expect your legs to feel it — but the views? Absolutely worth it.

🌊 Coming Soon in 2026

Construction is underway now, with completion expected by next year. Once it opens, we at Go Niagara Tours can’t wait to include this new path as part of our guided walking experiences. It’ll be a new favorite for photographers, fitness buffs, and anyone who’s ever dreamed of climbing into the clouds of mist rising from the Falls.

Stay tuned. The climb is coming.
