Misty the Cat isn’t just a cute mascot—she’s a symbol of Niagara Falls’ daring history. At Niagara Tours, we chose Misty as our official mascot to honor one of the most unforgettable moments in the Falls’ past.
In 1901, Annie Edson Taylor, a 63-year-old schoolteacher, became the first person to survive a plunge over Niagara Falls in a barrel. But before she attempted the stunt, she tested her custom barrel by sending her pet cat over the Falls. Against all odds, the cat survived—and became a part of local legend.
Inspired by that fearless feline, we created Misty—a lighthearted tribute to the spirit of adventure that defines Niagara Falls. So next time you see a cartoon cat in a barrel on one of our brochures or tours, you’ll know: it’s not just a mascot. It’s a nod to the wild, wonderful history of the Falls.
